Terms and Conditions
Entries
1. By submitting an entry in the competition, participants agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions, which form the rules of the Competition
2. This competition is open to UK residents (including CI & IoM) aged 16 upwards, except employees of the Promoter, its agencies or anyone professionally associated with the competition & their families. If you are under 18 on 31st March 2010, you must have the consent of a parent or guardian to take part in the competition and to accept the prize. Please note the competition will take place during normal working/ teaching hours. Therefore, if you are in education (which includes school, sixth form college, all FE and HE establishments) or if you are under 18 and in training and employment, you will be required to gain the necessary written consents from your educational establishment / your employer to take time off. We reserve the right to check these consents and, if we are not satisfied to with these consents, withdraw the participant from the competition without notice.
3. You will enter the competition online on at www.socialenterpriseambassadors.org.uk: by submitting in words why you would benefit from being mentored by a Social Enterprise Ambassador. Your competition entry should be 150 words or less. You can structure this how you like, considering the below questions:
- Why you have chosen the Ambassador
- How the session would help you
- What you would like to achieve
4. After submitting your entry on the site, you will automatically be entered and no other entry mechanic will be needed to be in with a chance of winning, as long as you fit into the age and region restrictions.
5. You will need to provide us with your name, address, postcode, business name and address, e-mail and telephone number at the time of entering the competition. The data collected for these purposes will be used solely for the purposes of this competition and its promotion.
6. The Promoter will own the copyright in all entries submitted, by entering into the competition you hereby assign to the Promoter all rights in such entries such that the Promoter (and third parties authorised by the Promoter) may use, display, publish, transmit, copy, make derivative works or podcasts from, edit, alter, store, re-format, sell and sub-licence and otherwise exploit your submissions for any purposes (for the full period of any rights).
7. The closing date for sending in your idea for the opportunity to be selected as a finalist is the 31st March 2010. All entries must be submitted by 11:59pm (BST).
Prizes
8. 28 entries will be selected (unless the Promoter in its discretion decides to select more), and the people responsible for these entries (Winners) will be matched with a Social Enterprise Ambassador (SEA) and invited to attend a mentoring session. The Social Enterprise Coalition (SEC) will match the winning entries with the SEAs, based on their business, mentoring needs and geographic location. The promoter reserves the right to amend date/timings in the event of any unforeseen circumstances outside its reasonable control.
9. Although an effort will be made to pair winners with their requested SEA, this is not guaranteed and will not be possible in every case.
10. The SEA’s have agreed to a two-hour session, including a visit to their offices, a tour, background and mentoring session. If any Winner is unable to make any of the 3 options of date or time of the visit and mentoring session, then this will be deemed to be a withdrawal from the competition, and an alternative entrant may be chosen as a winner at the Promoter’s discretion.
11. The Promoter is not responsible for the costs of, or arranging transfers to and from the mentoring meeting location. All winners will need to cover their own costs.
12. All Winners will be required to verify their age and confirm their agreement to these terms, the publicity obligations and the use by the Promoter of their questions and the recording of them at the event, before attending the mentoring session. If an entrant is under the age of 18, the written consent of a parent /guardian will also be required. In addition, we reserve the right to check the consent of the parents/guardian and if relevant any employer or school/college by phone/email and to withdraw the offer of the prize if we are not satisfied with the verification.
13. There may in addition be certain security checks required and we will provide you with details of such checks and obtain your consent for this.
14. Prizes are as stated & no cash or other alternative prizes will be offered.
15. Winners may be asked to take part in reasonable publicity. If you are one of the winning entrants taking part in the mentoring session you give your permission for a film of you to be taken & featured on-line & used for publicity purposes & for the use by the Promoter of your questions without further compensation.
16. Winners may also be asked to participate in public relations around the competition and the event. If you are a Winner you give your permission, for photos of you to be taken & featured on-line, broadcast & in print for publicity purposes & for the use by the Promoter of your winning story without further compensation.
17. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a mentor at any stage in the process without notice.
Judging and voting
18. All valid entries will be judged on the criteria below (point 20) by a panel, which includes independent judges & one judge from the promoter.
19. The full or professional names of all the judges will be made available on request. Please send a stamped addressed envelope to the correspondence address below marked “Social Enterprise Ambassadors Judges names”.
20. The judges will choose 28 entries to be Winners. They will choose the Winners by the quality of the entry, which will be based on which entrant will benefit most from the mentoring session, and what they are working to achieve. The judges will be looking for the entry that seems the most considered, effective and reasoned.
21. When Winners are selected by the judges, by reviewing entries, a discussion and final vote in the first week of April, Winners will then be asked to supply the promoter with an appropriate phone number that he or she can be contacted on. Winners will then have to have a short phone interview with the promoter to verify that he/she was actually involved with the creation of the entry.
22. If the Promoter considers, in its absolute discretion, that there has been any rigging or inaccurate entries, that entry will be deemed withdrawn.
23. The judges’ decisions shall be final & no correspondence will be entered into.
24. Any entries that don’t comply with the competition’s terms and conditions will not be considered.
25. The Promoter shall be entitled to reject any entry or disqualify any Winner or entrant, if the promoter believes that the entry is defamatory, indecent or violates any third party’s rights.
26. The promoter & its agents can accept no responsibility for difficulties experienced in taking part in the competition or sending an email to the promoter.
27. Details of the prize Winners names, counties will be available by sending an SAE no later than 31st May 2010 to the correspondence address marked “Social Enterprise Ambassadors Competition winners”. No other correspondence will be entered into.
28. The promoter reserves the right to withdraw or amend this promotion in the event of any unforeseen circumstances outside its reasonable control.
29. The promoter reserves the right to terminate or temporarily suspend this competition in the event of technical or other outside the control of the Promoter that may compromise its integrity.
30. This promotion is governed by English Law & subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. Promoter: Social Enterprise Coalition
